Agatha - The Cape Cod Crone

I've just received confirmation that my package was successfully delivered. I did not want to post anything too soon lest I spoil the surprise, but now here is a picture of the stump doll I just completed for the Glitter Town Dollies 2009 Wall/Stump Doll swap.
This is a one of a kind doll that was created by my own design. Her tag reads as follows:
Agatha – A Cape Cod Crone
There are three stages of life for a woman – Maiden – Mother – Crone. Agatha is a sage old woman who has embraced her stage of life. Knowing that the end of the cycle is near, she cherishes each moment and lives it to its fullest. She walks along the sandy shores collecting seashells to decorate her home with. Seashells have special significance to her as each one represents a life that has come full cycle as she is about to do.
“…you only begin to discover the difference between what you really are, your real self, and your appearance, when you get a bit older…A whole dimension of life suddenly slides away and you realize that what in fact you’ve been using to get attention has been what you look like…It’s a biological thing. It’s totally and absolutely impersonal. It really is a most salutary and fascinating thing to go through, shedding it all. Growing old is really extraordinarily interesting.” (Quoted by Germaine Greer: The Whole Woman) "

Happy New Year!

I hope that the new year is happy, healthy, and prosperous for everyone.
Here on the Cape, the sun and fun capitol of the east coast, we saw 2008 leave in a snow storm. Today the sky is blue and the sun is shining, and everything is blanketed in 5 or so inches of snow. I was going to post a photo here of our winter wonderland but my camera wont cooperate. Apparently the batteries are too low. I just changed them a week ago, but I used bargain brand. Note to self: Cheap can be costly in the long run.
Oh well - I guess I'll post a picture from the last storm - as it looks a lot like this. Only difference is that it is sunny, and the snow is studded with hundreds of pine needles blown off trees by the high winds.
